Terms & Conditions

1. About the HEKMA Mobile App 

These Terms of Use govern your use of the HEKMA Trial Companion mobile application (“App”) available on iOS and Android devices. The App is the mobile companion to the HEKMA Patient Platform and enables you to manage your Health Passport, receive trial match alerts, track your study participation, and communicate with your research site — all from your mobile device. 

By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please delete the App from your device. 

 

2. App Download & Device Requirements

    • The App is available on Apple App Store (iOS 14+) and Google Play Store (Android 10+) 
    • You are responsible for any data charges incurred through your mobile carrier
    • We recommend keeping the App updated to the latest version to ensure security patches and new features are applied 
    • The App requires an active internet connection for full functionality; some features may be available offline 

3. Health Passport on Mobile 

Your Health Passport is synchronized between the mobile App and the web Patient Platform. Changes made on either platform will be reflected across both. The same consent and data rights described in the Patient Platform Terms apply to the mobile App. 

 

4. Push Notifications 

With your permission, the App will send you push notifications for:

    • New clinical trial matches based on your Health Passport
    • Reminders for study visits, questionnaires, or tasks assigned by your research site
    • Important updates about trials you are enrolled in or tracking
    • Platform security alerts 

You can manage notification preferences at any time in your device settings or within the App’s notification settings. 

 

5. Device Permissions 

The App may request the following device permissions:

    • Camera: For scanning QR codes at research sites or capturing documents (optional)
    • Notifications: For trial match and study reminders
    • Health data (Apple HealthKit / Google Health Connect): With your explicit permission, to import relevant health metrics into your Health Passport
    • Location: Optional, used only to show nearby research sites if you enable this feature — not used for tracking 

You can grant or revoke any of these permissions at any time through your device settings. Revoking permissions may limit certain App features but will not affect your account. 

 

6. HealthKit & Health Connect Integration 

If you connect Apple HealthKit or Google Health Connect to the HEKMA App:

    • Only the specific health data categories you authorize will be read by the App 
    • Health data accessed through HealthKit or Health Connect will be used solely to populate your Health Passport and improve trial matching accuracy
    • HEKMA will not use HealthKit or Health Connect data for advertising or sell it to any third party
    • You can disconnect this integration at any time from within the App

7. Patient-Reported Outcomes (ePRO) 

If your research site assigns Patient-Reported Outcome (PRO) questionnaires to you through the App:

    • These questionnaires are study-specific and assigned by your site’s clinical team
    • Your responses will be transmitted securely to the research site and will form part of your study record 
    • Incomplete or missed questionnaires may be flagged for follow-up by your research coordinator

8. Ask HEKMA AI (Mobile) 

The Ask HEKMA AI assistant on mobile provides general information about clinical trials, your Health Passport, and the enrollment process. It is not a diagnostic tool and does not provide medical advice. Always consult your physician regarding health decisions. 

 

9. Acceptable Use

    • Do not use the App to enter false health information
    • Do not attempt to access other users’ data or accounts
    • Do not use the App for any purpose outside of legitimate clinical trial discovery and participation management
    • Do not attempt to reverse-engineer the App or its AI matching features

10. App Updates & Changes 

HEKMA will update the App from time to time to add features, fix bugs, and address security issues. Critical security updates may be applied automatically. If a major update changes how the App works in a way that affects your rights, we will notify you before the update takes effect. 

 

11. Termination of App Access 

We may suspend or terminate your access to the App if you breach these Terms. You may uninstall the App at any time; uninstalling the App does not delete your HEKMA account or Health Passport data. To delete your data, use the account deletion feature in the App or web platform settings. 

 

12. Governing Law & Disputes 

US users: These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware. UAE users: These Terms are governed by applicable UAE federal laws. Any disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration in the relevant jurisdiction.
